1. Book Early
Most couples marry in the summer – peak travel season. So whatever you do, don’t leave booking your honeymoon til the last minute. If it is to be the trip of a lifetime with memories to last forever, you’ll need to plan in advance to make sure you get what you both want.
2. Don’t let your fiancée sort it out alone
This is your honeymoon, not a long weekend in Barcelona. Do it together to make sure that you are both happy with all aspects of the trip.
3. Look beyond the High Street
Smaller, specialist tour operators tend to have better insider knowledge and will go the extra mile to make sure your trip is special. The Association of Independent Tour Operators might be a useful resource.
4. Ask if your tour operator has an online wedding gift list
If so, your guests will be able to go online to book windsurfing lessons, excursions, candlelit dinners, or a set of suitcases for your honeymoon of a lifetime!
5. Think of the finer detail.
6. Make sure you book a room with a view, and arrange for flowers and champagne on ice upon delivery. And a romantic meal would top all of that off nicely!
7. Spend only what you can afford.
If you want to go for an expensive hotel, make sure you can afford a good room. If you end up in a room overlooking the dustbins you won’t have a good time.
8. Get the Timing Right
Make aure you are going at the right time of year. Tropical heat is great, but you may find the humidity too much to bear, and a monsoon wouldn’t be much fun either!
9. If it’s a long flight pay for extra leg room
Long flights can be tiresome and uncomfortable, so since its your honeymoon why not treat yourself?
10. Use the bride’s maiden name when booking flights
This will save you the hassle of renewing the passport when you are busy enough planning your wedding.
